Little Plague Book

Local artist Scott Hume has recently released a very cool zine called, Little Plague Book.

The book is a compilation of Scott’s new characters and their traits. The concept is simple, but the execution is excellent.
Check out some of Scott’s art here, and look out for a show in the near future.

There are limited copies available for sale at Mixed Media on James  North and Cannon.

I caught up with Scott to ask him a few questions about his work.

1) How long have you been drawing?
I’ve been drawing since I was a kid.

2) What is/are your inspiration (s)?
I’m inspired by a lot of things, from classic science fiction and horror flicks, to old New Yorker Cartoonists  Charles Addams and Peter Arno.  I also find inspiration in illustrators like Skinner and Alex Pardee.

3) How did you develop your unique style?
I’m not sure really, it just sort of happened, I think I just started letting myself be influenced by others things besides your typical comics.

4) Whats next for your art?
I will be self publishing a series called Crows Feet, which is a vendetta western somewhat based on the feud between the Clantons/McLaurys and the famous Earp Family. I am almost done book one so it should be printed within the next month.  Other than that, I am working another mini comic.

5) Who is your favourite local artist?
That’s a tough one because Hamilton has a lot of amazing artists, but I will have to go with one of my best buds Jesse Rayburn http://jessesagerayburn.ca/ he has grown into a solid illustrator and he’s been putting out some awesome stuff these days.
