June Art Crawl Highlights

The first Art Crawl of the summer season is upon us. The June Art Crawl is packed full of great events for you to enjoy. From gallery openings, live music, film festivals, great food..  James Street is bringing the heat this Friday.

As always, there are many events for you to consider surrounding Art Crawl. Below are our recommendations:

De Facto at Mulberry featuring Hamilton Holmes

Mulberry Cafe’s gallery room is now officially known as De Facto at Mulberry and will feature a wide variety of exhibits in the future.

This Friday marks the grand opening of the new gallery space with an exhibition by Nick Hamilton Holmes. The exhibit will include furniture, and original prints and photographs. Check out Nick’s tumblr for a sample of his fantastic work.

Grand Opening of HAVN – 26 Barton East

Several local artists have gotten together to open a brand new space on Barton St called HAVN (Hamilton Audio Visual Node). This space will be used to display a variety of art with an emphasis on new media, performance, installation, education, and propaganda.

The opening night on Friday will include: euclidean installation by Connor Bennett and Kearon Roy Taylor, visions and artefacts by Andrew O’Connor, Amy McIntosh, and Lee Skinner, sprawling landscapes by Eschaton, and on the flat by Kearon Roy Taylor, Andrew O’Connor, Amy McIntosh, and Ariel Bader-Shamal

10pm – This Ain’t Hollywood

Toronto’s Jumple is a group of wild party animals that play music that can be best described as a combination of: USSR drinking songs, Gorgl Bordello, and a Bulgarian wedding band. Yeah all of that. This should be a fun, high energy show – a perfect way to end your Art Crawl.
