WTFunk Happened to 2011!?

9pm Friday December 30th, at Lowkey Studios 48 Ferguson Ave. $7.

Dance all night and into the last morning of 2011! If you love to shaking and grooving but have a hard time finding many DJ parties with some good old school Funk, Soul, Afrobeat and more you should be extremely excited about this opportunity! DJs KidFlip, Sikich, K.Chintoh, Devon Craig and Mother Tareka (don’t miss Mama T, only back in Hammertown for a short while!!) are bringing down the house  with the added bonus of live art by Sanjay Patel and a photo booth to document it all.  For only $7, don’t miss it!

Holladazzle at the Red Mill Theatre

Wed, December 28th.  9pm at The Red Mill Theatre – $5 (with canned good)
This event promises to be more fun than your aunt Sally’s annual ‘Ugly Sweater’ holiday party; all of the fun of dancing and drinks, but without the terrible music and the awkward drunk uncle.

Some of Hamilton’s favourite Djs will be spinning at Holladazzle tonight: Parking Exit, Donna Lovejoy, the legendary Jon Sikich, Simon Toye, and Gary Buttrum. The event will also include cool visuals by Realtime Activities.

After 10pm, this event is $5 with a non-perishable food item, and $10 without. As a holiday bonus, if you arrive before 10:00pm and have a non-perishable food item you will get in for free.  Don’t forget your dancing shoes.

The Red Mill theatre is a beautiful venue above the Harvest Moon restaurant on 80 James Street North.  Map: http://g.co/maps/6fbs3

Boxing Day with: Defcon, Magic Shadows, Canadian Winter, Huren and Mother Tareka

Sunday, Dec 26th. 8pm @ This Ain’t Hollywood – $5 + non-perishable food item

After the presents, the aunties, the church, the cheek-pinching, the airing of the grievances, the nogg hangovers… it is time to take off your footie pajamas and come downtown for a bangin’ Boxing day show.

Defcon (members of the much beloved and successful Warsawpack) will be playing their debut show at This Ain’t Hollywood. This is huge, if you were around for Warsawpack you will know the level of talent and bad-assery awaits. Joining Defcon are a few other Hamilton favourites: Canadian Winter, Huren, and Mother Tereka. This promises to be a great show.

Entry is 5$ with a non-perishable food item, and 8$ without.

See you there.

Farewell to Copy Dog

Friday, Dec 23rd.  6pm  at The Brain – no cover.
If you’ve seen an eye catching poster around town for the past 7 years there is a pretty good chance that it was printed at Copy Dog’s.  The business has been in Hamilton for 7 years, and on James North for the past 3. The time has come for them to close their doors. This is a sad loss for Hamilton, as Copy Dog was an affordable, local,  place to get your printing needs met. Come out to the Brain this Friday to say ‘farewell’ and to show your appreciation to Tom and his excellent print shop.
