6:30pm, Thursday September 15th, 71 Main St – City Hall.
This year marks the 30th anniversary of Take Back The Night; a powerful opportunity for all woman-identified individuals to actively build connections, assertively reclaim our right to safety, and courageously stand up against violence. Hamilton’s Take Back the Night event is organized by SACHA (Sexual Assault Centre Hamilton and Area) and will include activities for children, henna tattoos, information tables, Take Back the Night t-shirts and buttons, face painting, (my personal favourite form of empowerment:) laughter yoga, sign making, music, food, some surprises and, of course, a loud and empowered march! The night will start with a gathering at City Hall at 6:30. At 7:30 this gathering becomes a rally, cheer for your strength and safety! Finally at 8:00pm we take to the streets and march for everyone to see.
Though this is an event solely for Women-Identified folks and children, those who identify more so as Men can show their support in solidarity at a Male Allies event. Find more information on this separate event by clicking here.
