Songs from the Bishop

Thursdays at Bishops Park

When it comes to music, there are few venues better than a gorgeous park.  Sitting on the grass with nice friends, fresh air and good tunes is one of the most serene feelings one can have. Thankfully New Harbours, The Hamilton Artist Inc, and The Stinson Community Association have all worked together to put on a great musical experience during the summer at Bishops Park. It started a few weeks ago but there is still five weeks of music left! Showtimes are listed below starting this thursday.

Dr. Disc Rooftop Concert

Friday July 29 at 6 pm and Sat July 30 at 1 pm behind Dr. Disc

I’m sure that most of you have heard that Dr. Disc is having its 20 year anniversary. They have been hosting concerts on their rooftop all of July. This Friday they are having another one with yet another lineup.

The concerts feature local Hamilton bands which helps to showcase the amazing musical talent this city has. The music is amazing and the people are great, so make sure to stop on by!

The Ships Last Show!

Have you heard the bad news? The Ship is no longer going to have live music shows. Have you heard the good news? They are having one last big bash and are turning their back area into a great patio.

Great Canadian Burlesque – Hamilton Summer Sizzler

July 27th from 9:00pm to 12:00am at The Casbah

Oh, this looks like it’s going to be a lot of fun. This Wednesday, the Casbah will be the place to be for all your burlesque needs. The Great Canadian Burlesque is coming into town to put on a sassy, sexy and highly entertaining show called the Hamilton Summer Sizzler.

You know you will be in good hands with the host of the evening being Mysterion and a line up of some of Canada’s best burlesque stars such as Fionna Flauntit, Chaos Divine, Esther De Ville, Ava Noir and Canadian Burlesque Hall of Famer – Tanya Cheex.

Not to mention a plethora of special guests including Danny Proctor- Mental Marvel, Dave Gould and his musical Toilet, DJ Jezebel Dupree of the legendary Steeltown Sirens, Fire Poi by Hot Carl and stand up comedy by Canadian Comedy Award Nominee Colette Kendall.

The Tree of Life

Wednesday, July 20 & Thursday, July 21 at 7:30 at the Westdale Theatre

If you have yet to see The Tree of Life, here is your chance, this is the last week it will be showing at the Westdale Theatre. The film chronicles the life of a middle age man living in Texas in the 1950s. Director, Terrence Malick uses a series of fragmented events to piece the story together. The film won Palme d’Or at the 2011 Cannes Film Festival. Despite its star studded cast, the film is anything but Hollywood and is definitely worth checking out.

ARCHIVE

Friday, July 15 · 7:00pm at Sinister Vintage Clothing

Tonight Sinister Vintage Clothing is hosting ARCHIVE. This exhibit is featuring local photgraphy by Luis Mora and poetry by Paul Allard. Luis, a recent Sheridan graduate has had his photos shown all around Hamilton and  Paul is a writer who’s poetry helps calm and excite the soul. We only found out about this event today and are super excited to check it out!
Just to make things even better, local rockers MYSTICS will be playing some tunes fresh off there gig at This Aint Hollywood. Loose Lips will also be around, and Sinister clothing will be having a 25% sale. Check out who else is coming here, and tonight do yourself a favour and join the fun!
